We took Madeleine to the Woodland Park Zoo today! It was our 1st trip and we really enjoyed it! The weather has been absolutely beautiful around here and it was the perfect day to visit the zoo. Jeff had the day off so we decided to go today and hopefully beat the crowds! Madeleine & Daddy checking out the map
Madeleine at the petting zoo, petting the goats. She loved it! She kept wanting to kiss them - yuck!
Jeff is FINALLY home! He was only gone 4 days but it seemed like forever...especially on Tuesday when Madeleine decided not to take a nap! We missed him so much that we paid him a visit at his work this morning. Madeleine got right to work when she got there, first finding a new desk to sit at and then having a "meeting" with her daddy over snacks!
It's just Madeleine & I this holiday weekend. Jeff is off on his annual golf trip with his buddy Dave and enjoying himself very much! They headed to Idaho and Eastern Washington to play a few different courses. He played 18 holes TWICE on Sunday and still had two full days of golf ahead of him! We will be excited to see him on Tuesday.
Madeleine & I haven't been doing much. Grandma Schroeder came up to spend the night on Saturday night. We played outside for a bit and then went out to dinner. Madeleine let us enjoy a glass of wine, some bread and a salad but by the time our main courses arrived, she was done. We got our food to go and came home and enjoyed it with some more wine! :-) I think it will be awhile until I try dinner out with Madeleine again. She simply does not want to sit for long periods of time...and who can blame her?! She wants to explore!!! Sooner or later she'll have to learn to behave herself at a restaurant though.
Sunday we went grocery shopping, took a long walk and played at the playground. Madeleine is getting very adventurous and is making me nervous! I can barely keep up with her at the playground!
Dave brought over a little rocking chair Madeleine and she is loving it! Here is the little old lady sitting in her rocker!
Madeleine and I headed to the Kirkland waterfront this morning for a walk. It was so beautiful down by the water. It makes me miss West Seattle. I had fun window shopping once in town and Madeleine enjoyed seeing the ducks in the water and trying out a new playground! Madeleine kept trying to say "quack, quack" for the ducks. Too funny!
Madeleine & Jeff are home again! Hooray! Amazing though how much the house gets messy with all three of us here. Time to clean up again!
I got a play kitchen for Madeleine while she was gone (FOR FREE!) and she is LOVING it! Although in this picture, she doesn't look to happy to be in the kitchen :-)
I also picked up some blocks for her at the garage sales - only $5! She likes those too!
Madeleine loves to say "Ball" as I mentioned in an earlier post, so here she is saying it!
Jeff's little sister Laura graduated from college this past weekend in Dallas, TX! We are so proud of her and excited to see what she does next! Jeff & Madeleine made the trip down to celebrate with everyone while I stayed home and enjoyed some much needed quiet time. I wish I could have seen everyone but I sincerely enjoyed my weekend.
Jeff & Madeleine's weekend was packed with seeing lots of family, celebrating and some swimming! They flew out on Thursday and the flight was a breeze for Jeff. I give Jeff a lot of credit for doing it on his own. We had all kinds of tricks for the plane ride - plenty of snacks, a new toy, and a dvd player so she could watch movies. Jeff even got her to sleep on the trip down - hooray!
Checking in for the flight Madeleine loves Roger!
Swimming in the pool with Daddy
Whose belly button is that?
Madeleine had fun with her Aunty Erin (and Laura too but I don't have any pictures!) :-)
Madeleine is really trying to talk these days! It is cute to watch her try and say words. She stares at us with such intensity when we say a word to her and then tries to copy us. Her new word is ball...she says it over and over and over. She also likes to say mama, dada, moo for the cow, no, and dog. Today she tried saying "woof" and "meow"...it was really cute!
She sure is growing but with this comes the not so fun stuff too. Madeleine is starting to throw little tantrums when she doesn't get her way. For the time being, they are very short lived. I can still easily distract her and she stops. We're definately in for the terrible two's....they're approaching fast!
We spent Mother's Day with my mom & dad this year! Unfortunately my brother, Sharyn and Raymont could not join us because Raymont is sick. We are not 100% sure yet, but he may have the swine flu. We will know in a couple of days. We are keeping him in our prayers and also praying that Sharyn and my brother don't get it. So far so good! Raymont is also feeling better so things are looking up.
We had brunch downtown Seattle at the Dahlia Lounge and it was DELICIOUS! A 14-month old baby girl was seated at the next table over so that entertained Madeleine a bit. After brunch we headed home and enjoyed the weather! We took a long walk through some trails near our house with the jogger!
Swim lessons finished up this week for us. At the last lesson, Madeleine got to practice wearing a life jacket! She had fun this session in swim lessons!
Jeff & I headed up to the Tulip Festival in Mt. Vernon to enjoy the beautiful flowers. I've lived here all my life and even attended college in Bellingham and this was my first time to the Tulip festival. It was Jeff's & Madeleine's first time as well.
Sorry for all the tulip pictures but I really couldn't get enough of them! They were SO beautiful that I had to snap multiple photos. We lucked out with the weather too. It was a gorgeous day in Washington!
Madeleine tried smelling the flowers :-)
Madeleine loved seeing the horses! We kept saying "Neigh, Neigh"...we are such parents now!
