Mele Kalikimaka!

Jeff's mom generously took us to Maui for our Christmas present! We spent 10 days in Maui over the New Year with Jeff's family. We had a total of 10 people in our group. She rented a gorgeous home in Kapalua that sat on the 11th hole of the Kapalua Bay course (something Jeff & Greg really liked) which also overlooked the ocean. Just beautiful! The house was just the right size for all of us. As beautiful as the house was, we didn't spend very much time inside. Instead, we hung-out on the patio while home, went to the beach or pool, or enjoyed an excursion.

Madeleine loved Hawaii! She has never slept as good as she did there. We were up in the morning, ate breakfast and then were off to do something active...all the swimming & playing tired her out!

I took a ton of pictures which you will see below. We also had family photos done while there that turned out great...I'm trying to see if the photographer will give us some digital files to post. Otherwise, you'll have to come over to see them :-)

We hit the beach in Napili the first day we were there. This was Madeleine's first true visit to a beach where she actually went in the water. This was definately a learning experience for us. Madeleine swallowed a lot of salt water and got a a lot of sand in her eyes that day. She still loved it! Below, Laura & Jeff are helping her jump the waves. This was her first mouthfull of salt water - yuck!

The view from our home

There was a natural stone hot tub in the backyard which we never heated and used as a dipping pool instead. Madeleine loved this more than the beach or the big pool. Go figure.

Madeleine LOVED her cousin who she called "Baby Drew" but sounded more like "Bebe Doo".

Madeleine & Grandma dancing on New Years eve

We left the babies at home with a babysitter and headed to the Old Lahaina Luau. Great entertainment, yummy food and open bar = fun times all around!

Erin was the "single" girl of the group and she has a lot of fun!

We didn't know Pat Benitar would be joining us that night! Good times! The luau boys loved joking around with Amy!

Jeff & I went on a few dates while there thanks to all the aunties and grandma! Thank you!

Madeleine & Bebe Doo taking a bath

Madeleine really lived it up on New Years Eve...gotta slow down girl.

Beautiful views from the running trail

A PGA tour played at the course on the resort we stayed on

Madeleine & Jeff in front of the house and getting ready to head up to the pool

We had the pool to ourselves most days and we loved it, especially Madeleine!

Cousins giving kissies

Our family photo in the future? Ha!

Jeff & I ate delicious sushi one night at the resort and then met up with John & Amy later that night at a different restaurant on the resort. A great perk to staying on the resort was that we had a shuttle to drive us around from place to place. We ended the night seeing Laura & Erin on the shuttle ride home and decided to hit one more spot for karaoke. Jeff started the night singing "Folsom Prison" and then Jeff and his sisters sang "We Are Family" - so funny!

We went into Lahaina a bunch and shopped & ate at yummy restaurants!

Jeff & Greg golfed the course at the resort twice and had a ton of fun!

I love these faces!

Towards the end of our trip, we left the kids at home with a babysitter again and headed out for a snorkeling trip to Lanai. It was amazing and definately my favorite part of the trip! We saw whales, turtles, exotic fish, an historic ship and walked on a beach that many people have never visited!

Sunrise!

The captain of our ship was hillarious and had a song for every occasion. When we sailed by this shipwreck off Lanai, he started playing the theme song to Titanic and Greg was pulled into the skit. Too funny!

Concrete ship from WWII

We took Madeleine to a local playground and made a few new friends

While waiting for lunch with our whole group, Madeleine played on the beach in Lahaina

Here is Madeleine running to her daddy. She only wanted to Jeff for most of the trip. At first it was kind of nice to have more of a break but then it just upset me. I missed the hugs and kisses from her. Now that we are back home, she likes me again!

Eating lunch out on the waterfront with the entire group

Yum!

Madeleine liked baby Drew's sunglasses

We celebrated Madeleine's 2nd Birthday while in Maui. She didn't like everyone singing to her but she did a good job at blowing our her candles and really enjoyed her ice-cream cake.

Girls night out at Whaler's Village! We pigged out on nachos, had drinks and of course talked and talked!
Our last day at the beach. Jeff & Madeleine played in the sand. Jeff built sandcastles and Madeleine knocked them down.

A tired girl after a day at the beach

I love this age...she copies everything we do! So cute!

Our last dinner out at Hard Rock and Madeleine got the dish everyone wanted, cheesy macaroni!
